In loving memory of Sensei Pauline Laville-Bindra I was, for nearly 30 years lucky, honoured and privileged to have trained and grade under Shotokan Karate’s top female martial artist - Sensei Pauline Laville-Bindra. Sensei Pauline was the very first female in Britain to gain a 1st Dan Black Belt in Shotokan Karate and went on to appear in many TV programmes and documentaries. Sensei Pauline was interviewed by many top martial arts magazines throughout her karate career and was a co-founder of most of the top governing bodies for England. Sensei Pauline trained and graded under the best Japanese instructors who came to England, and trained alongside many other martial artists who are now recognised as the best of the best. Sensei Pauline has also been talked, spoken and written about by other leading martial artists and will always be in our deepest fondest memories.
